Legal Adviser

Faratech Islamic Bank is seeking a Legal Adviser to join our legal and compliance team. You'll provide legal guidance on banking regulations, Sharia compliance, contracts, corporate governance, and other legal matters affecting our digital banking operations.

About the Role

As a Legal Adviser at Faratech, you'll work closely with management, product teams, and external counsel to ensure our operations comply with applicable laws, regulations, and Sharia principles. You'll draft contracts, review policies, and provide legal advice on a wide range of banking and corporate matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on banking regulations and compliance
• Ensure compliance with Sharia principles and Islamic banking regulations
• Draft and review contracts, agreements, and legal documents
• Review and update terms of service, privacy policies, and customer agreements
• Advise on corporate governance and regulatory matters
• Support product development with legal and compliance guidance
• Manage relationships with external legal counsel
• Conduct legal research and stay current with regulations
• Support regulatory examinations and audits
• Provide training on legal and compliance matters
• Assist with dispute resolution and litigation management
• Ensure compliance with data protection and privacy laws

Requirements

• Law degree (LLB, JD, or equivalent) from an accredited institution
• 3+ years of experience in banking law, corporate law, or related fields
• Admission to practice law in Senegal or relevant jurisdiction
• Strong knowledge of banking regulations and financial services law
• Understanding of Islamic banking and Sharia compliance
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Attention to detail and high ethical standards
• Ability to work independently and in teams
• Fluency in French and English

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Islamic banking or finance
• Knowledge of fintech and digital banking regulations
• Experience with regulatory compliance in banking
• Understanding of data protection and privacy laws (GDPR, etc.)
• Experience with contract negotiation and drafting
• Additional language skills (Arabic, Wolof, etc.)
